Description of Event:  JPSA Partnering with Community Gardens of Tucson 

 “Working today to plant the seeds for tomorrow”

Location:  Homer Davis Community Garden  4250 N Romero Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705

• Type of work: laying out cardboard, mulching, distributing compost, amending plots, packing seeds into bags for community member to plant, picking up leaves and garbage around the surrounding field, and building gardening kits for students at Homer Davis as a part of their “Kids in Gardens” program

• Jewish community
• Homer Davis community

Agenda for the day:

• Upon arrival, volunteers will be provided with t-shirts
• The coordinator of the Homer Davis Garden will lead us in restoring the garden as well as provide instructions for our volunteers
• A local Rabbi (or Jewish Master Gardener) will discuss the importance of volunteerism, gardening, and the role that gardening plays in building community
• A representative from Homer Davis Elementary School will talk about Homer Davis and JPSA’s history of working together
• Young Leadership Programming
• Soccer game or kick ball for the young families in attendance
• Wrap up – thank you for attending!
