Chesed Shel Emet

Sunday, April 28, 2019 23 Nisan 5779

1:00 PM - 2:30 PMCBS

Bet Shalom Children (aged 8 and older) and parents are invited to an inter-active rock painting workshop on Sunday, April 28 at 1 pm at Bet Shalom. The workshop is free, but RSVP's are necessary so we will have enough supplies to be used that day. The rocks will be painted with acrylic paints, using chopsticks to paint colorful dots. This will be a one and one-half hour workshop led by art instructors Carol Sack, Sarah Frieden and Anne Lowe, and professional instructor Dr. Gila Silverman, to teach children about dealing with grief. They will be making painted rock art for graves or as keepsakes, a well as learning about the Jewish way of grieving. This is in connection with Yiskor which will be held at the end of Pesach. Many children experience the sadness of losing a grandparent or other loved one during impressionable years. This will engage them in a loving way of respect for their relatives, and for the Jewish cemetery.  This workshop is funded by the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona by its Synagogue Funding Group. Congregation Bet Shalom thanks the Federation for providing funds for children and family programs such as this one.
